With baseball at the height of playoffs, Tom and I were thrown a curve ball on Tuesday morning. While Tom was getting ready for school he began losing his speech. I thought "oh no another seizure". He proceeded to shave and shower and then asked (in sign language) to go ahead and fix him some breakfast. While I was downstairs fixing breakfast I noticed it got very quiet upstairs. I quickly ran upstairs and found he was back in bed. Since he has had two previous seizures I was prepared for it to last maybe an hour, that was not to be. I put a call into the doctor to get his advice on what to do. The doctor told me to increase his anti-seizure medication, check him every hour with assessments and call him back by 2:00 if he wasn't better. With each hour Tom seemed to be getting a little worse. By 1:30 Tom had lost use of his right arm/hand, his mouth was twitching and he began "clucking" with his tongue. Tom's surgeon, Dr. Zerick, recommended I take Tom to the emergency room. I begged the doctor to just let us come into the office and he agreed Tom would probably get better and faster care there. They immediately got him in for a CT scan and the doctor met with us right after with news that struck us out. According to the doctor the scan showed a large mass of calcium along with "tumor enhancement". We did not want to hear this and we were filled with sadness and fear. Dr. Zerick wanted us to keep the 1:00 MRI scheduled for today. We will be contacted by him on Thursday to know where we go from here. From what he says it looks like a "de-bulking" surgery will be required to get the pressure off of Tom's brain and relieve the seizure activity. Once Tom and I were back in the car we both began to cry. One of the hardest parts for me is to see Tom's pleading eyes and not have him be able to communicate with words. Somehow God saw us home as we rested in each others arms of comfort. No words were necessary as we communicated through tears and a tight embrace. Tom began humming "I Love You Lord". We rest in the comfort of God's arms. Tom was ready for sleep and as I left him to sleep I felt the most alone of all, that is when Kelly, my sister, walked in the door...God provides, our Jehovah Jireh!
My niece and her husband, Nathan and Aubrey, brought dinner for us all. Tom was able to enjoy dinner and then a little baseball too. We praise the Lord for a quiet night of rest.
Today we pray that God will hit one out of the park, as it is our prayer that whatever showed up on the CT scan yesterday will be totally eradicated on today's MRI...we
know He can do that. We thank you for standing in the gap for us in prayer.

My sister-in-law, Cheryl, drove down so she can be with me during Tom's MRI. She is 'over-the-top' amazing bringing dinner for tonight too!

We continue to pray for God's healing hand. Being a care taker is hard and lonely. Please know that many are lifting you up in prayer, as well as Tom! We love you both.

We were gone for a couple of weeks and I have just caught up with your blogs. We continue to pray for healing and for strength for you as you walk this journey together. So thankful that God is giving you the comfort of family to uphold you. We love you and your family.

I was just finishing up my school day when my dad sent me the text about Uncle Tom's seizure. Alan received the text at the same time and he came up to my classroom right away so that we could pray for both of you. We are so sorry for this turn of events, but are hopeful that the MRI news will be positive. We love you, Abbie
We know our God is able and we are trusting Him to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think! Your faith has been rock solid through this journey and has been a great testimony to all.
