Another Week Gone By

Hard to believe another week has gone by, calm and quiet here, not much to report.
Lisa & Grandpiglet ~ Summer 2010
One of the "big" things that happened this week is one of Sarah's pigs had 8 piglets on Wednesday night.  Last summer after Zac and Sarah were married, Sarah was a "nanny" for dear family friends of Zac's family.  The Meyer's Family in Ashland, Ohio live on a beautiful farm with many farm animals.  Sarah became quite enamored with the farm life and more importantly with this precious family.  While she was at the farm one of their pigs gave birth to many piglets!  After a great summer the Meyer's gave Sarah an "end of the summer bonus gift"...two sows!  You have to understand that Zac is a seminary student at Grace College and Sarah is working full time at Grace's marketing firm, Brand Poet, in Winona Lake, IN.  They live in a modest two bedroom, second story apartment.  Therefore, Zac's parents who live on a beautiful farm in Ashland have raised their (our) grandpigs!  Well, you think your kids grew up quickly?  Be glad you're not a mama sow...Sarah's sows are now mamas.  I guess Tom and I are great-grandparents of PIGS!  It's so funny, Zac's mom text me and said "they have Sarah's eyes and Zac's nose"!!!

Our other "big" news is Tom's parents are coming to visit over Tom's birthday, November 3-8th!  We are so excited to have them come and visit.  We trust  that the weather will be nice and maybe we"ll enjoy an Indian summer then.  It will be a good time right before Tom's 5th round of chemotherapy.  We will even be able to go see Matt play basketball at MVNU!

We once again ask for you to join us in prayer as Tom will have another MRI this Wednesday, Oct. 5.  This is his "Mid-Treatment" MRI.  We will not know anything from the MRI until meeting with the doctor on Monday.  We continue to put our trust in the Great Physician and know He has Tom (& me) in His hands.  We were reminded in the service today that so often times when God's people go through trials they seek His gift of the answer or relief from the trial and not just seek God.  We both truly pray that we are faithful to seek Him and not just His healing.
"I sought the Lord, and He answered me,
And delivered me from all my fears."
Psalm 34:4
Tom has said several times that he is praying that the MRI has such good results that the doctor will say he doesn't have to finish the chemotherapy!  I love his optimism and hope.
We loved having Matt and his roommate, Caleb, come home on Saturday and Sunday.  What fun guys they are and we are looking forward to watching them on the basketball court at MVNU this season.

So thankful for our friendship with Doug & Carylee Meyers.  We were able to have them over for the Ohio State vs. Michigan State football game.  We enjoyed our time together even though the Buckeyes dissappointed us.  The weather was so cool and rainy that it called for a chili dinner.
A quiet relaxing weekend is just what the doctor ordered!
